Connection Poem by Heidi Wiggin

Connection

Never really made a connection
Whatever that means
What about our bedtime stories?
The walks through the woods and biking round the lake?
Nine years of bein my father and you never really made a connection?
What about christmas and birthdays
Easter morning church and Thanksgiving day meals?
Didn't those moments create a bond between us?
It did for me and I'll never forget them
Damn it Daddy I believed in you
I trusted you to save me from mom's craziness
But I guess you were just too weak
So weak you gave up on me
Why did you let me go?
I guess you already let me know
Cuz you never really made a connection
