Conference Confinement Poem by Danny Draper

Conference Confinement

Post lunch and all too soon,
Monotone, monotone, monotone,
Guttural growling groan,
Audible bland persisting,
Consciousness lost in drone,
Speech blending with ambience,
A murmur incoherent,
Monotone, monotone, monotone,
Slumber escapes within it.
A firm hand jars, 'Are you awake? ',
The speaker's dejected collegial spirit.
Monotone, monotone, monotone
Please let me fade back in it,
'Oh, please proceed.', half feigned remorse.
'It's been over for ten minutes! '
