Complicated Simplicity Poem by Cheré Mason

Complicated Simplicity

There is nothing but deep silence around me
Only the faint feel of a wind long dead in this place
The dying sky is a paler shade than ivory
Licked with bleeding lips of lace
There is a hollowness where I currently stand
But it is still a feeling at least
One of few left in this barren land
Starving out man’s inner beast
Again I closed my eyes hoping to wake
To be revived from this mocking illusion
but I am disappointed to see this fake
can only be restored by my corrupt imagination
