Compared In Modern Times Poem by Shelley Williams

Compared In Modern Times

Rating: 5.0

Christ was put up on a cross
and treated with much hate
They said to condemn him to death
when his innocence was great.

I read the scripture of his life
and compared it to my own,
even though no other can suffer
as much pain as He did alone.

I have been through similar
spit on, made fun of and accused.
In front of others to be laughed at
and keep the haters all amused.

There are awful people out there
that live to cause much strife.
By their actions and words
they tried to destroy my life.

The persecution I go through
and those who leave me out.
Called mean names, pushed away,
cars honk and drivers shout.

I have come to know my Savior
after all that I've been through.
I know that Jesus loves me
no matter what some people do.

ST Luke 23: 34
'Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them;
for they know not what they do.'
