Companionship Poem by John Dubois

Companionship

To live without love is to live without life
For you are the one I want to call my wife
Even though you are gone, and the world has ended
This is not how I thought love was to be intended
For our break was too far extended

It doesn't matter why you left me
All that matters is the pain that consumes me
Everyday I see the light going farther away
I wish I had been able to convince you to stay
And now life without you has led me astray

I live without love, and I live without life.
