Cold War Poem by Rex-mayor Ubini

Cold War

Rating: 4.0

You say my ways are
sketched on a Zebra’s glad-rag.
You didn’t say you and I are of the same species;
members of the human family.
But your thoughts admit I’m strange
not because I’m out of range,
but because I’m him you don’t understand.
But how could you ever conclude
that my mind is blue or dark,
if you could not tell the day, the hour
you were conceived in your mother’s womb?

I’m in the womb of a dream
In the eyes of an ageless being
But if you claim you can see my shadow,
why don’t you wait till tomorrow
Before you rise against me as thou
I am your foe?

You’ve declared a cold war against me
out of envy or jealousy
out of a drought of perception.
But your weapons
are invisible and cold like you,
lurking somewhere in timbuktu.
But I do hear your gossip in the air
It’s amazing you’re so bold in fear.
If you are not a brave coward
Then come out of your cold shade
and make it hot.
But do not forget…

I’m in the womb of a dream
In the eyes of an ageless being
But if you claim you can see my shadow,
why don’t you wait till tomorrow
Before you rise against me as thou
I am your foe?
