Cold Is The World Poem by East Sea Fairy Xing Yi

Cold Is The World

By TANG Wan Translated by East-sea Fairy

Fell with the rain at dusk yesterday many a peach bloom.
With this desolate and dreary sight,
I can't help feeling a heart-breaking gloom
and that the world is fickle quite.
When the morning air dries my eyes wetted last night,
I try to write down how I feel truly,
but can't, even though I try with main and might,
so I just lean against the rail to call you far away and talk to my self secretly,
and wish that you could hear me. Hard, hard, real hard this would be.

Attacked by a long-lasting disease as long as the swing rope today
I'm in a mood different from that of yore
with you so near but so far away.
The chilly wind at night makes me feel bone-sore;
and a cold feeling in my heart, what's more,
the sound of the yonder trumpet hammers heartlessly.
Night is to close. Am I to meet my untimely end like it? I query and pore.
Afraid of inquiries, I fight back the tears and force a smile before everybody.
Conceal, conceal, I conceal it from others covertly.
