Cody Poem by David Bisacca

Cody

Big eyes big heart
The best part
Big paws big teeth
Always so sweet
That big bark
Now a favorite part

Down hard in the snow
Wind knocked out
With such a blow
Should have known
How it would go
Big chest offers
A collar for a tow

Used to jump swat a paw
Now in a slump on a fall
His fate from me
Tries to hide
But i can see in his eyes

His will that finally had to bend
Refusal to leave at the end
I hope it was a thank you
He was trying to send

So as i shovel the last
Ache as though on the rack
I can't help but feel
He still has my back
