Clouds Poem by Mike Barrett

Clouds

The sun is shining.
The sky is blue.
Clouds
Like grand designs
And great ideas
Drift lazily
Across the sky.

Funny! Strange!
So completely normal!

What a story
They might tell
If only
We could read
Them!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written sometime during the summer of 1960. On the summer's day it was written I was lying on my back, watching the clouds, while on the top of what we used to call 'the mountain' on our farm in Barnesville, New Brunswick.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Clouds draw strange designs in the blue sky! Before we can trace their outlines, the designs are erased and new ones come! We humans do not know what all they try to communicate through these pictorial symbols! Simple but cute poem!
