Long ago when land was claimed
The sun rose and set as it does today
It took hard work in order to prosper
And more hard work so they could stay
Chosen land to work and farm
Homes and stores built to survive
A township was designed
So settlers had town when they arrived
From early morning until the dawn
They persevered with a steadfast plan
Tents were set up and structures were built
A job for every beast and man
Sawmills were created so lumber could be made
Progress was slow but purposeful in direction
Folks worked tirelessly together
In the township of a 320 acre section
Let’s remember those difficult times
The people we should never forget
For they changed our lives way back then
And you know, they are heroes yet
So when you pass through a town like this
Remember it’s not a western drama
People worked hard to build the town
Of Cloud Chief, Oklahoma!
