Classic poets have much in common,
except they're often dead.
Like the amazing lyrical, spontaneous ways,
thoughts dance around their heads.
Questions of race, religion, culture,
no subject is taboo.
And all these thoughts exposed, laid bare,
to the likes of me and you.
To gaze on clouds or wonder why,
to scribble wild ideas.
For lay-people from all around,
to read for many years.
And so we sit and read their, rhymes
their words and meter true.
And hope that one day, classic status,
may apply to me or you.

With that hopeful thought only we are all here...well I am glad you've touched that subject...thank you
