Circus Parade Poem by Evelyn Macdonald

Circus Parade

Rating: 5.0

The circus is coming, the circus is coming
the children all echo with glee
the banners are bright, the band is in sight
funny clowns trip and tumble for me

The music is merry, exciting to hear
and parents are clapping in time
the sidewalks are crowded with young folks and old
as the animals walk in straight line

A lady I spy on a lovely white horse
red ribbons in bridle and mane
behind her a lion, a tiger, a zebra
monkeys wave from a wooden toy train

Elephants lumbering trunks tied to tails
while acrobats twirl on their backs
a man dressed in top hat and tails gives a wave
and the circus stops dead in its tracks

The circus is coming, the circus is coming
hear the man in the top hat exclaim
come one and come all to the big top tonight
and we're drawn in like moths to a flame

Excitement is building, there's naught to compare
this event can clear anyone's frown
our tickets are bought for the grand show tonight
Yes, the circus has come to our town
