Churches In America Poem by Randy McClave

Churches In America

If Paul could see the Churches in America today
I wonder what he would think and say,
Don't these Churches still do not understand
There is, but only one forgiving hand.
To get to the Father, you must go through the Son
He's the only way to take you to Heaven, the only one,
But, many still worship without thought or care
Not knowing truly how to get there.
A sinner cannot forgive another sinner of their sins
All they are doing is committing more losses and no wins,
And once you are saved, it is for now and forever
And for God to forget you're salvation, that would be never.
Paul wrote to the fledgling congregations
Meaning he wrote to all the world and for all the nations,
How God gives us his righteousness based on faith
And not by our works given to wraith.
He corrected issues concerning divisions and acceptance of sin
Which falls upon all women and men,
Helping understand the purpose and functions of the Church
And how we must help the unsaved with their search.
Paul writes how to live a Christian life in joy
And to help others and not to rent or to destroy,
He wrote never to stand for any type of false preaching
And to never believe or adhere in any type of false teaching.
Paul encouraged the Church to stand strong through persecution
Be faithful and strong is God's solution,
To be bold and preserve the gospel in the face of opposition and heresy
Even unto the clerisy.
Paul also wrote to welcome back an escaped black slave
To him Onesimus was a true Christian proud and brave,
These letters were not written to these Churches, to be ignored
Or to be stuffed on a shelf somewhere or maybe hidden in a cupboard.
Theses letters were all written to be read aloud
Not only for one or two, but for a congregation, a crowd,
Paul wrote of these Christian beliefs in the New Testament
For you and me to read and to obey as God's holy covenant.
I wonder if Paul walked into any Churches in America tomorrow
I wonder if his soul would be happy or angry or full of sorrow,
If Paul saw how they were acting and judging and treating a debtor
I wonder how soon he'd be sending those Churches a letter.
