Christ Will Rise Poem by J. D. Martin

Christ Will Rise

You may write him out of history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread him in the very dirt
But still, like dust, He'll rise.

Does his holiness upset you?
Why are you beset with your gloom?
His sacrifice has been accepted
But without faith you are doomed

Like the moon and the sun
And it's beauty in the sky
Is the sureness of his coming
And his death and his rise.

In the garden he was broken
Bowed head and lowered eyes
Humanity sins awoken
The consequence of deadly lies

*Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
My heart for you is broken
Trust in him and be saved by God

You may shoot him with your words,
You may cut him with your eyes,
You may kill him with your hatefulness,
But like at the tomb he will rise.

* Alternate verse
Does God's justice offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard.
My heart for you is broken
Trust in him or your be charred.
