Choose But The Best Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Choose But The Best

Why sit waiting death's final bell
Hearing it's dreadful sound
Descending through the gates of hell
Not life on higher ground

Why live demonic seed sowing
Not heed Salvation's voice
Refusing, Christ Jesus knowing
Making Satan! your choice

Forsaking life's wisest treasure
Beneath Life's Saviour wing
Did wealth bring so much pleasure?
Did lust make your heart sing?

Was it enough, was it such fun
Was it not a mistake
Despising God, rejecting His Son
Debaucheries hand, to take

Was not life's consciousness calling
Your soul not sound alarm
When deeper and deeper falling
Beneath your lovers charm

Just a moment, a little while
Knowing how time is short
Will eternity wear a smile
Beyond life's bad report

Whilst reading this! while time's at hand
Consider a little more
Will wisdom not cause to understand
Before death knocks your door

Think of Heaven, why Jesus died
Life is one living test
Knowing nothing from God can hide
Why now! not choose the best? .....
