Christ Alone Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Christ Alone

I searched the world with lustful eye
No matter where I’ve been
I learned my God You satisfy
Far more, than all I’ve seen

In You I find my daily bread
In You I get my fill
I’m made content with what You’ve said
When all around is still

I feed within my daily prayer
I thrive on what You give
Alone the knowledge that You care
Gives me the strength to live

I eat and drink Your every word
I know the bible’s true
From all on earth I’ve seen and heard
There’s nothing quite like You

It’s Christ alone my God I need
It’s Christ who makes me whole
His righteous flesh on which I feed
Sustains my weary soul

Others may mock, may laugh in scorn
May doubt You made me free
Yet soon I know the day will dawn
Where all on earth will see

Till then, this child’s remaining here
On You I can depend
In Christ my God I’ve nought to fear
Wherever now You send

With sin I’ve nothing more to share
The world has nought I yearn
I’ll eat My God Your finest fare
Until my Lord’s return.
