Choice Poem by Daniel Rimero

Choice

Again we stand together
Between safety and freedom.
Temptations are powerful.
Fear too.
But duty is stronger.
We know where we are now:
In the middle of a roaring fight.
If we hold on
We cannot lose
And they cannot win.
If we stepped back
We don't know where we would go,
How deep we would sink.
We just know they would chase us downstairs,
Always downwards.
Because they cannot be satisfied.
Because they are mad.

We don't need to sacrifice
Any of our freedoms
To prevail.
It is just the opposite:
Every freedom is a rock
For them to hit upon;
A castle
For them to assail in vain.
A fire
For us to show the way
In the darkness
And for them to uselessly burn their forces.
Every freedom is our best weapon.

So there is no choice,
Just courage.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Frank James Ryan Jr...fjr 24 February 2015

Impressive work...I could not agree more with your powerful, yet eloquent platform...This is not a time to look away, and hope they go away...That strategy, in less time than certain people in high places think, will have the entire globe on its heels, and taking action(s) in panic mode which will inevitably result in mistakes, and empower our nemesis even more so. ~FjR~
