Cherished Be Those Sacred Nights Poem by Darryn John Murphy

Cherished Be Those Sacred Nights

Peer closely upon my eyes and feel the warm upon my skin
Is there life, forever after lying deep within
What breath I take I must endure
But is it ever clean and really pure

For I have felt the rhythm of my heart
And flowed like rivers of tears I’ve part
No woe to burden me beside the sea
Just the thought of you and me

Just taste my lips and breathe me in
Where we can live beyond the world of sin
Two heartbeats that beat as one
Beneath the light of yonder sun
And watch my love, I’ve come undone

Within your touch I feel alive
The tenderness within your eyes
Humble be the light of love
Beside the wings of the lonesome dove

How I treasure you my sweet
Who moves among us with earthy feet
Taste upon my salty lips
Like the heavens honey drips

And take my hand and feel my pulse
Every time that you are close
Burden be no woe to me
When I am here and close to thee

For I am bathed in morning light
When you are resting here in my sight
Cherished be those sacred nights
Where we make love, till morning light
