Changing Seasons Poem by Alison Gaff

Changing Seasons

Winter brings the frosty morns
Leaves grass all shimmering white
The birds are busy chattering
So stay a while I might

If there's snow upon the ground
It gives us a chance to see
The footprints that are left behind
By beast or bird or... me!

The Springtime is so busy
With birds building their nests
Some build neat and tidy one
While others are just a mess

The pond will soon be full of life
As the sun, the water warms
There's boatmen, newts and snails
And the frogs have laid their spawn

As Springtime turns into Summer
The flowers start bursting forth
The bees and bugs are busy
Feeding for all their worth

On the brighter days of Summer
New life is all around
But its not all up in the trees
So remember to check the ground

Soon now it will turn to Autumn
With leaves of reds and golds
The trees will all be fruiting
What bounty Autumn holds

There are many misty mornings
And some cooler cloudy days
I think it is my favourite time
In oh so many ways

So now we've come full circle
We've had snow and wind and rain
But we've also had the sunshine
And so the cycle stars again.
