Change Poem by Carissa Gom

Change

To the girl who stopped growing
Without even knowing
What can we do to help you change
This is something we’d like to arrange

We’re not talking inches, meters and feet
We’re talking about something much more discreet

Because she’s trapped in a bubble
She’s lost her own song
She has no more strength
To carry on

When you curse another’s success
And live in the past
You can only expect your life to be a mess
Oh how sad because time travels so fast!

Didn’t you know you only have one chance
Didn’t you know life is like a fleeting glance
One moment gone
Then another
Can you please listen to your sister and brother

How I wish she’d grow just one inch
Travel the meters, valleys and feet
Push herself to grow just a pinch
And open up her horizons where self proclaimed destiny she’ll meet

How can we get her to take one bounding leap
To unlock the mysteries and treasures she keeps

I say, “Tell her get strong”
I say, “Carry on”
Listen: Make the changes you need!
But I fear change holds her bond
Without bail, without hope
This saddens me indeed

Oh how I wish she’d travel one inch
One meter, one foot, just a pinch
