Nature's Song Poem by Carissa Gom

Nature's Song

Crisp is the air that tickles
My nose
The beauty of this place
Is not lost on me
For in it I see nature's symphony
Notes sound out
As drips of water dance on leaves of pines
And redwoods
Trees that have seen the passing of the years
Changes that cannot be measured
With sight or touch
Only with the soul
That pauses and beats
To the sound of nature's drum
Pattering on my heart
Connecting me to the moment
Of now
As I stand beneath the mighty tree
While rain falls all around me
Tapping notes of the ages
Sadness, joy and strength
Blend with love and heartache
I stand frozen beneath a giant
Wishing to capture
The mood that emcompasses me
And shakes me
In this very moment
For these moments can swiftly blend into years
Years have past beneath this spot
Of trees so old
And so wise
If only I could know the stories that they hold
And the mysteries that will unfold
If I could just listen here and now
To the song that nature plays
For the rest of my days
Would I be content?
I will never know
For now, it's time for me to go
