Chain Link Poem by Sara Militello

Chain Link

Rating: 4.5

Chain Link

They say a chain's only as strong
as its weakest link:
I'm thinking of the times my heart broke
into many links,
Times I tried for two and cried for more-
stuck through thick and thin
and excruciating effort not to out-spin.

Where was the weak link in that chain of love?
Somewhere, there must be a clue
so I begged this question of who...
'How is it so many on Earth
seem to have managed to find love true?
Or is it as true they have found it to be as I?
Blue! '

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was reading a poem by Aqua Flower and tried to make a comment in which I mentioned this poem I'd written back in 1990 which I felt dealt closely with the same issue of disappointment in loved ones who fail to 'be there' for us when we need support. Then when I checked, I noticed it was not posted! Here is is.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Human relationships are hard enough at any level, but when you throw romance and or physical desire into the mix, no one truly understands the workings. It may sound cliché, but I think one has to love themselves completely before even thinking about anything else.

You're right. But who ever listens to such sound advice?
