Certain Death Poem by Bri Lynne

Certain Death

You might think things are lookin up
Smile as you gently glide through
Forgetting the point
But a peak this frigid
Can only send you tumbling wildly down
Until down is all you know
Suddenly noticing the flowers are hung
And laughter is replaced with wailing
Trapped in blood-curdling fear
And unparalelled misery
When the World's turned to a black shell
An empty, shaded version of what was
That bottomless pit they speak of
Where fires burn brighter than the Sun
Hotter than flesh-eating lava
Down faster until you start believing
You've finally hit rock bottom
Until you start believing
Your blood has ceased flowing
Painfully tricky
When you realize the gruesome splatter awaits
And you're riddled with tortuous fear
Trickling up your spine to your fingertips
Until you feel that ultimate peace
Hold your breath
When you get a little taste
Of certain death
