Candlelight And Rain Poem by Peggy Hapke Lewis

Candlelight And Rain

Rating: 4.8

Who am I in candlelight
and rain coursing down
the window pane
to seal me in this wondrous egg
where city sound diminishes
and shadows point
to what I write
in candlelight.

Who am I in candlelight
my face inclined
to see the glow
surrounding just this moment
as I slow
to my heart's
rhythm of the night
in candlelight.

Who am I in candle glare
now twice illumined
with my stare
from glowing eyes
which see at last
one kernel of next spring's repast,
that growing feast I must create
I am aware
in candle glare.
