within their cages
One seems calm
another rages
Each one
yearns
to mount the stars
Burns
to reconcile the bars
A caged beast will never be truly happy in bondage, it will always be longing for the open sky and the open air, even if the cage is made of gold and sumptuous food is served within! Freedom is every one's craving!

Wow! Great insight and powerful analogy, Glen. This one certainly goes to the favorites list. :)
thank you for the strong affirmation, neal. it's one i personally like and have wondered is not more appreciated. perhaps it takes first-hand experience of struggling mightily against our physical limitations. i read this struggle in the sculptures of michelangelo alternatively titled slaves or prisoners. -glen
