By My Fire Side Poem by Paul Sebastian

By My Fire Side

Rating: 5.0

Dark clouds blanketed the night
Behind star-embroidered mantle, moon slept
Lighting whipped, thunderously cried
Cracked the clouds, heavens copiously wept

Heavenly tears fiercely splatter on shivery panels
Howling wind between panes sneaking in
Wicked weather rudely cut off TV channels
Staging my mood to go searching, within

Sitting in a warm antique couch
Thoughts sank into deep contemplation
Fire wood cracking, as the wall clock watched
Glimpsing on rushed years for redirection

Regretting how much more I could have done
Yet, so much more to do, there's so little time
Dreams to be fulfilled before the set of sun
How could I resign and drink a toast of wine?

Fire ablaze, burning wood is red hot
Feeling warm, but my spirit's like damp wood
Trying to keep aglow within, somewhat
Pour fresh oil to keep my spirit ablaze, I should

Howling wind, rain splattering on panels
Miles to go, so much to accomplish
This I know, it's my destiny: time will tell
My desire ablaze, my dreams I'll relish

Downpour soon to cease, the night would pass on
Sunrise at dawn, another new day, beginning…
So much to do, so I'll move on and press on…
My Lord is my strength, surely He'd be leading

Move on, I will, believing in my clear vision
Neither storm nor wind can deter my quest
I have set my sail towards my destination
I'll steer, persist until I reach my port, then I rest.

A dark wet night and thoughts of the eternal destination in a peaceful environment when things like a TV are not disturbing and thinker is a poet like Paul Sebastian, one can imagine how much close to God the thoughts will be. A great poem.

Wow..... this is such a beautiful poem! When the TV is out and when it is night and raining, we are likely to turn inwards! You see that much more remains to be done! With a firm resolve not to waste the remaining years.... you are getting ready to greet another dawn with hope and relying on Providential guidance! Enjoyed!
