Butterfly Poem by Jeffrey Mitchell

Butterfly

Rating: 5.0

Watching a beautiful butterfly in flight
Flapping her wings, what a beautiful décor she displays
As she glides on a gust of wind, while light from the sun
Cast a shadow of her my way on the ground
As the butterfly, fly’s by
Her decorative style on her wings catches my eye
Where the rays of the sun glistening her wings
Which only enhance the beauty of her in flight?
While I stood in awe staring and wondering
Watching as she glides in the sea of a blue sky, filled with pillows of clouds
Not able to touch her
For the gust of wind under her beautiful wings
Keeps distance from me catching her?
Out of reach from my touch, but her beauty can be seen
Perhaps someday she might even use the wind
To fly my way so I can catch a closer glimpse of her beauty
I stare from afar, to see the design of her wings.
But today I stand still hoping not to frighten her away
A beautiful butterfly has caught my eye
So now I return to that spot, day after day hoping
Since I can’t control the wind I shall watch her from afar
