But I Do See The End Here Poem by Cynthia Aluning

But I Do See The End Here

You came...

Such a wondrous feeling I couldn't deny
Meeting you I know my heart would divide
You illumined my nights and days turned so bright
Though it wasn't right, I was bound for its flight

You left...

Leaving was so sad as you waved me goodbye
For the call of duty was there to comply
Confused to confess or to just simply hide
A simple poem I wrote, a feeling it signified

You came again...

Knowing you were back kissed my tears away
Comforted by your presence from a very risky stay
A love once held could no longer hide
Promising anew, you'd be soon by my side

And you missed to come...

Absence was a dagger struck in our hearts
Doubts enfolded of broken promises and lies
Burying the memories of a love I once knew
Consoling myself and finding someone new

I succumbed to your plea...

Awakened heart that slept for sometime
Burning desire I still felt inside
Could no longer argue, was almost blind and deaf
A promise reborn consoled my heart enough

Once again, my G.I. to Iraq...

I should have drawn the face of my lover
Too long a wait too difficult to tackle
Never heard since, my dreams blown away
Missing you so much I died a little each day

And finally...

Bittersweet memories I've buried in its grave
I need to move on but the thoughts still remain
Once again you came back, irresistibly my man
All the loving feelings kept coming back for more

And I do see the end to these...

Words I have long understood but you still tried to explain
You belonged to the task to comply than to complain
Your quest soon to end with a noble deed you stand
The love you've sacrificed now dependent on your hand

Hello seems goodbye...

After all those chances, after all those waits...
The man I offered love with had caused a fallen dream
But I do see the end here and had finally saw it clear
You're just a mere shadow, and you never really exist.
