Bus Ride Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bus Ride

Bus ride

For long I just drove
No train and no bus
Blessing I have lost!

Yesterday once again
A bus ride to regain
Memories of the past.

Riders go and return
To work and school,
Home and more…

Could not find a token
No machine to purchase
It was how saw kindness
From the Chinese girl…

While talking to the bus driver
Saw her hand towards me extended
Two tokens
One for me present, was reserved!

How lovely to go see the public
What is car, with single driving?

Then in bus; when lucky to get ride
Saw wet hair, sleepy with wide yawn
And in hands large, small coffee cups.

Saw people who cared for elderly
And the ones who abused, blindly
All of them I have lost when in car

Hey Chinese, almond-eyed, oriental
I left and did not use your offer
But please do accept my respect.
