Broken Clocks Poem by Ashley Renee Thompson

Broken Clocks

Time ticks on so, so slowly,
Leaving memories, faded pictures.
Heart filled with what-ifs,
Immeasurable agony & if-onlys.

One half of this whole
Barely hanging on, weakly.
Hard to grasp any purpose
Just a numb shell, no soul.

Most have let go, not she
Alone screaming, but backs turned.
Not an ear, shoulder or friend
Left to acknowledge what used to be.

Breaking point upon her,
Finally reaching coveted end.
Let breath slow, close eyes
Finally smiling, but won't stir.
