Bootprints Poem by James Waters

Bootprints

Rating: 5.0

Step lightly in your travels
From the seashores to the sands
For boot prints have been left
In distant foreign lands

Each print a mark for freedom
A freedom won with blood
A boot print that will not fade
Come wind or storm or flood

For these prints were left by soldiers
America’s proud and true
They fight for those who can not fight
Led by the red white and blue

Be they Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine
The boot print is the same
They are our nation’s best
And in them you’ll find no shame

So if you come across a boot mark
Be it here or across the sea
Give pause for a moment
Bow your head and make your plea

Give thanks to those men and women
Who fought and died to keep you free
Relish in that boot prints history
Of those standing watch from sea to shining sea

this really did touch me. i think it is a shame when military men get disrespected. my boyfriend is in the marine corps and many many bootprints he has left. everyone should give thanks to everyone in the military. beautiful by the way
