Destiny Poem by James Waters

Destiny

I was but a spec
On a map of endless roads
In a world of empty towns
Lost and alone

Dust and wind my only companion
Not a bird, a dog or cat
Not one buzzing bug
Not a sound to grace my ear

I scream out hello
My words echo and fade away
Tears stream down my face
No one left to love

On my knees in the street
Weeping in despair
A bright figure appears
I ask, where did the people go?

You killed them, the figure replies
You killed them with your hate
You killed them with your anger
You killed them with your lies

Bur I have only just arrived
I reply to the light
How can I be responsible?
How am I to blame?

You are responsible because you are man
And like all mankind you thrive on hate
It is what makes your heart beat
Your claim of love is a lie

So man was punished
You are the last
To bare witness to the judgment
And now it is time to die

As the light dwindles
In the blackness all is revealed
I am show all mans atrocities
With my last breath
Comes understanding

DESTINY! ! !
