Bob Hawke Poem by Francis Duggan

Bob Hawke

Rating: 5.0

Born in Bordertown a Town in south Australia's countryside
Australia's twenty third Prime Minister recently died
On his eighty ninth year he lived a long life
Survived by Blanche Dal'puget his second wife
Though well educated he was one who had the knack
Of communicating with all classes of people something most politicians do lack
With the wealthy and famous as well as the working class he often drank a beer
He was one who greatly enjoyed the pub cheer
So many with stories of Bob Hawke to tell
He was loved by his own Labor Party and his political opponents as well
At the end of our life's journey death awaits all
Life forms as well as humans from the great to the small
Australia's twenty third Prime Minister in Sydney spend his last night and day
Where the Reaper of lives on his life had the last say.

If it isn't said of bob hawke, It should be, I feel, that to a cork he preferred a crown seal.
