Blue To Grey Poem by Linda Barnes

Blue To Grey

Rating: 5.0

We kept it upbeat
Waiting for the doctor
But when he walked in
Laughter faded

He began to explain
What was done
But more importantly
What was found

I watched your face
As he explained
And saw the light in your eyes
Go from blue to grey

Your disappointment
Of a new diagnoses
Was heart breaking
As you focused

Your future plans
Were diminished in an instant
Of all that you had dreamed
Would all begin to fade

As the doctor left
You didn't say a thing
The silence was deafening
As you took in a deep breath

You turned to me
Searching my face
Your eyes pleading as you said
Quantity or quality is what you faced
