Do Not Love Me Poem by Linda Barnes

Do Not Love Me

I see you look at me
With an intense stare
Am I familiar to you
Or just a passing dare

Forget you ever saw
Whatever it was
For I am all alone
Not wanting to be snared

I will not want for you
Nor submit to its glow
For love is senseless
It was stolen long ago

It has its own language
An emotion that misleads
Even the most innocent
Fall carelessly to their knees

So do not love me
I am not for you
My heart was trampled on
And cast out to sea
