Blood Heals More Then Tears Poem by Michele Weston

Blood Heals More Then Tears

Rating: 5.0

It is cold as I hold it in my fingertips,
The blade reflects the candle light,
I sit there alone, will I really do it?
I've tried everything else, nothing worked,
I think I have finally realized,
Blood heals more then tears.

Four times a day I sit and debate,
Does this control my life? Do I care?
All I know is I lost all feelings,
Crying doesn't do anything anymore,
You can't cry if you do not feel,
But blood heals more then tears.

I see the other thin red lines,
Some are old and daded into scars,
Some are so new the blood is fresh,
I've done this so many times before,
But everytime seems like the first,
Blood heals more then tears.

I press the blade against my skin,
The piercing gives me a needed rush,
This is like a drug, I cannot escape,
As I drag the blade across my skin,
I can feel the pain tingle my senses,
Blood heals more then tears.

I think I cut to deep this time,
Three hours later the blood wont stop,
Crimson in color it covers the floor,
I'm to weak to stand, it has me,
I didn't mean to cut that deep,
But blood heals more then tears.

He found out what I did,
They sent me to that place,
My cuts turned to faded scars,
But the very day they let me go,
The blade had me all over again,
Blood heals more then tears.

Goodness... how very real. You are a fine poet and this is tough and necessary writing. Thanks so much. The penultimate line...the blade had me... is so vivid. Gerry
