Blind Poem by JoAnn McGrath

Blind

Rating: 5.0

What can I do to help....You ask?

Toughest question you have put before me.

For if it were not for my parents
(at the moment both very ill)
I would be,
and I'm afraid will soon become,
one of those startling statistics.

A faceless number.

That society over looks.
'If you don't wan't to see it...
...it's not there'
Out of sight....out of mind.
Worked when we were children.
And still works for the shameless adults.

Those same adults that have their WANTS
exceeding their NEEDS.
And wealth they have to figure
deceitful ways to avoid to much tax.

Why sit with millions?
Do you really 'need'
to 'Live' on millions.
When a child doesn't even know
when their next meal will come from.

BLIND!

How can we be so blind
The way we treat our own kind
We turn our heads and look away
So what we see won't ruin our day
We should be stepping up to the plate
To help out our fellow mate
Instead we show apathy
and do nothing for what we see
The Lord says, treat them as yourself
and later you will reap better wealth
So first stand at the mirror and see
The reflection of who YOU want to be

Blind or Seeing?

Very true... JoJo... People only see what they want to see, they shut out the hurt and the pain and say its not my problem...

Bravo! ! It is so easy for us to turn the other cheek and look away, or even look without seeing... We should have more respect for people than that. Thank you for reminding me of that fact. : -)
