Blessed Poem by Shalom Freedman

Blessed

It has rained today
After many days of not raining
And rain they say is a blessing
And I feel blessed
Not just by the rain
But by the wind and the cold and the freshness of the world
And the sunlight intervals that break a cloud-filled sky
And just being here in Israel in Jerusalem
After all these years still here
Old now but too filled with much remembrance
And so many people - friends too
I have known here
Blessed is the City in the Rain today
Blessed am I
Blessed are the people of Israel
For being here
Blessed is the Capital of Israel.
