Blackout Poem Poem by Allie Dove

Blackout Poem

I spent my day s
wondering of
the sacrifice required
for
li f e

I
found
inspiration
in his
eye s

he'd fallen in love with
My stories and
worlds then
happily
I'd catch
myself thinking less and less

h e
made me who I
no longer
recognized .
I wanted
to feel
delightfully
needed

It was early I
was empty
I grabbed
and
reached out
to the
idea
That
this
would likely be the last
t i m e
I'd be
looking
for the
on e
who would take me
to connect with

he
said,
Stay
, and don't leave

hi s

soft smile
loaded my dusty
heart
onc e
like a
completed fortress

lo ve

i s
dangerous but so alive

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem using blackout techniques on an average article, by carefully selecting certain words from the article to change the message and the meaning. The original article was about a soldier and war.

What an interesting concept for writing poetry. An enigma in a poem. Read mine – Brush Strokes - Adeline
