Bitter Sweet Goodbyes. Poem by Bailey Burris

I know this sounds so super cliché
But has anyone else ever felt this way?
Does anyone know exactly what I would do?
Does anyone know how much I love you?

Is there anything I could do to stop you from leaving
Anything I could say to keep you retreating
Back to these arms that care so deep for you
And back to this heart that doesn’t want anyone new

I thought it would always be just me and you
We fit so good together, like a bolt and a skrew.
I guess I was wrong, and we are done.
But hey, you are my only one.

And when I lay down at night i pray
God will keep you safe and maybe,
If I ask him sweet enough,
He’ll bring you back to me someday.
