Beyond Love Poem by Margaret Cox

Beyond Love

When we fall deeply in love what we feel
Being with someone should slowly heal
But it does not always work out that way
The heartache is still there, day after day
Trust and confidence in affairs of the heart
Come into force and play a really big part
Real longing and passion are always there
But so is the contentment and loving care
To accept you are loved and cherished too
Without feeling smothered is hard to do.

But the gentle hand that touches your hair
A soft kiss that tells you someone is there
A touch on the shoulder, a gentle embrace
That still makes your heart furiously race
A nice cup of tea with a sweet loving smile
Sometimes leaving you alone just for a while
To truly love and try so hard to make it work
Beyond the passions and emotions that lurk
This is something that few are lucky to find
That beyond love true happiness lies behind.
