Margaret Cox Poems

Haunting deep memories of a dear love now lost
Distant thoughts to one side now carelessly tossed
But the mind retains the warm feel of sweet recall
Explosive imagination grows, like an illusion ball
...

It is the haunting silence which dims the eyes light
And pupils darken to match the menacing night
Shadows lurk around as the mind conjures up fear
Deep thoughts run riot to bring danger so near.
...

The saddest story I have to tell
Of a time when things were not very well
...

When all hope seems lost, and reason has gone
And minds are locked on to what went wrong
Just hang in there, smile and hold on really tight
Trust, have faith, believe you will see the light.
...

Strolling dreamily along to post a letter
I was pleasantly surprised, what could be better
Pure white blossom adorned an avenue of trees
Surrounded by a humming myriad of bees
...

Patience is a virtue, or so they say
Many are happy to play things that way
...

‘Tis the waiting heart that smiles beauty ignites
And misty eyes clear as darkness turns to light
...

She stood alone, on a platform now eerily deserted
As the train rocked and rumbled and noisily taunted
The winds huffed and puffed and whistled their play
As menacing dark clouds wept tears to grey the day
...

It’s a never-ending road that the lonely man treads
Looking neither left nor right or turning any heads
He has no thoughts, no dreams, devoid of all hope
No feelings or care, no longer knowing how to cope.
...

All through life we seek to find
Peace, contentment – not far behind

Jon-Jo Mclean was visiting the Dentist again
His face all swollen up with toothache pain
Sitting in thought in the Dentists clever chair
He thought he’d have fun while he was there.
...

The dark clouds gather with a heavy threat
I guess many people are about to get wet
A menacing rumble as the light disappears
And a flash of lightening everyone fears.

Happy Birthday, have a good one young man
Enjoy the special day, have all the fun you can
...

What a touching sight it is to see
An elderly couple as close as can be
Linking arms or hands clasped tight
Clinging together with all of their might
...

When we fall deeply in love what we feel
Being with someone should slowly heal
But it does not always work out that way
The heartache is still there, day after day

A wish for good health for everyone
And a good night’s sleep when day is done
A wish for wisdom along each path
And lots of time to just have a laugh.
...

Tight binds of restriction it’s time to set me free
Loosen up these chains and please just let me be
Free to sing like a bird and soar high like a Dove
Enjoy happy freedom and true meanings of love

What harsh bitterness brings the lonely time
Waiting and listening for the hollow chime
Hurt and sadness, with pointless dedication
And all to hope for is numbing medication.

Just an aching heart, longing for a tender touch
Wandering rivers of the mind, hurting so much
Stored dreams and hopes crowd round to saturate
But are far too complicated to even contemplate

Haunting deep memories of a dear love now lost

Explosive imagination grows, like an illusion ball

Laughter and joy awake the senses so long asleep
Happiness within dreams is always there to keep
Like budding flowers suddenly ablaze with colours
Bright sparkling eyes gently roll back the shutters

Lost in the pleasure of timeless thoughts overtaking
Like the gentle flow of a rippling river’s awakening
Shining stars that lighten the darkness of the night
Memories key unlocking the richness lost from sight.
