Between Blinks Poem by Chris Frando

Between Blinks

Reminiscing my playful childhood
When I hated you so much
Didn’t understand why I needed to repeat things
Read and read, write and write, again and again

What always on my mind then
Was I didn’t like you as that
Didn’t get what you wanted
You just made my life complicated

Little by little, I realized everything
You shared what you gained
All the knowledge, skills and experience
Taught me to face the world with confidence

In good times and hard times, we’re together
Every time I could lean on your shoulder
I was prone to foolish mistake by my limitation
But you help me reach the acme of perfection.

You gave me serenity to accept things I can’t change
You gave me courage to change things
You gave me good sense to find the difference
You gave my life a meaning

As You brought up the best in me
I know now, what I really want to be
I longed to be you, a teacher, mentor and parent to me
Because I have witnessed your great part to my life
Between blinks.
