Better Than You Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Better Than You

I could do better than you
I've put a little more effort than you
who could love you the way that I can?
I don't know who you supposed to think I am
Since we can't talk past the issue, I don't care
No longer will I comfort you or try and be there
and you don't have to worry about when or where
cause we have lost what can not be found
the ship has sunk and it's set to drown
I Could do better than you
with time I have gotten clever than you
I'm like GPS your every move is predictable
So confess cause you wear the shoes of a criminal
When caught you want to talk it out and will downplay
but I ain't bought not one excuse on judgement day
Don't know why you're so worried about me anyway
cause we have lost what can not be found
the ship has sunk and it's set to drown
You Say, "What lesson do I need to learn
when your respect I thought I've earned".
I say, "You can not know what love is
the way you go on about this
as if it's to be dismissed"
I'm not sure if we will ever be fine
I keep holding out hope on this story line
But I no longer want you to be mine
cause we have lost what can not be found
the ship has sunk and it has drowned
