Better Than Flight Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Better Than Flight

Better than flight

It is more than a week
-I am drunk
-always and constantly, permanent
-dead muscles
-and the air
-rotten wings and feathers
-am stuck by the pane
-don't even move curtains
-forget door
-and the birds here, there
-come and go
-fly by
-turn their heads
-say "hello"
-then "Goodbye"
-seem depressed; no stop
-not a word is exchanged
-clouds make blanket
-no poking
-no teeth show with smile
-I drink bottoms up
-of opium
-and inhale word by word
-of poems
-magical by killing grammar
-rich in their beauty
-all painted in black and grey
-jar of art filled to rim
-sorrowful
-fruits fall
-when winds rise
-or on feet is breeze
-tied am I
-blindfold on my eyes
-am blind to outside
-and drowned
-in writings
-of Sohrab Sepehri

How can be?
-so great an artist?
