Belief Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Belief

Belief

In times when was cadet
To become officer
We had a commander
That sounded bluffer:
"Our base was deserted
And sickness took over,
Grounding most soldiers…"

He told us, explained:
"Were short of medicine,
In shock I, was afraid! "

Aware of time, distance
From headquarters,
Some radish, he gathered
Then with knife, top of pen,
Made things like round tablets.

He issued an order:
"Come, make line, all soldiers."

Then dropped one radish
Deep in mouths of soldiers:
"Swallow with water…"

Psychology, consciousness
That he had injected
Worked, ended the sickness.

As we see in Big Bear
For too long it was same,
Spirits used to be
The guardians, defenders.

Shahnameh leaps in time
To speak of phoenix,
Pulling out her feathers.

It gave them to man-son:
"Put one in the fire
When you face trouble."

Great is having faith
Even if is nonsense.

We, who laugh crazy
Know nothing of nothing
About faiths and beliefs.

Too dumb is our laughter!
Too dumb is our laughter!
Too dumb is our laughter!

A person with brain
Must dig deep, be aware
Of every, each corner
Before talking, comment.

In beliefs live powers
That lack the instruments
Of killers and healers…

Yes, to us, sounds funny
To hear mouse, other being
Having supreme capability!

But this is what we hear
Of tribes, chiefs, fighters.

Read about Cree man
That fought like spirit
With arrows of belief:
"I have bear's spirit."

We hear and careless
React fast, with laughter
Think little, then comment.

Too dumb is our laughter!
Too dumb is our laughter!
Too dumb is our laughter!

Open eyes and see deep
Into faiths and beliefs.
