Befriending Myself. Poem by Pen Anthony

Befriending Myself.

Rating: 5.0

I have sought friendships
Sometimes friendships sought me
I have been a good a friend
Sometimes a not so good a friend
Sometimes a pinch of both.

I'll let the people that know me
Choose which of the above I've been
I can only speak of one friendship
That of myself and myself
I've not been a good friend to myself.

I've shelved plans and goals for myself
To aid others pursue theirs
There's a joy in this venture
Yet sadness creeps in when
Your soul aches for an adventure of its own.

As age advances on me
I find myself on the edge
Oblige i will
Put me first and fast
In hope I'll quench this thirst
Of making me my best friend.
