Beauty Never Lasts Poem by Bareerah Bilal

Beauty Never Lasts

Laughter filled the night

echoing through the trees

confused, she looked around

Not seeing anyone

bravely, she walked towards it

the sound filling the darkness

her torch in her hand

The light bouncing off the trees

The moon shone down

not giving much light

At last she reached the hut

surrounded with life, music coming out

walking on towards the door

she rang the bell

when suddenly it stopped

Everything froze

the music stopped,

the air turned chilly

the wind blew through the night

rustling the grass

then the laugh sounded again

more creepy than ever

as a hand grabbed her mouth

muffling her scream

forcing her around,

she saw his face

beautiful as ever

hi eyes dancing

he laughed again

the same chilling laugh

'Got you at last', the whisper sounded

fear filled through her heart

her eyes searching for some sort of escsape

but she couldn't get free

how ever much she struggled

'Don't be scared', was the next message

'And don't scream', he removed his hand

'You're crazy',

was what came out first

his eyes once filled with laughter,

were now filled with sorrow

'I'm sorry', were his next words

she stared at him

disbelief evident on her face

He definitely was crazy

she asked him,

whether he was alright

and once more he laughed

his laugh filled with bitterness, pain and anger

'I wish', was all he said

before he left

Turning around at the foot of the forest,

He apologized once more

taking out a gun

he shot it

she screamed

but no pain came

looking on she saw his body

lying on the grass

blood streaming out of his side

running towards him, she bent down

he was looking at her

his eyes the color of the sea

as he once more spoke

the same words he had spoken afore now

before he left this world

to never return
