Forgiveness Poem by Bareerah Bilal

Forgiveness

Looking up at the sky

to see the stars winking down

she sank

upon her knees

A gasp escaped from her mouth

a cry of pain,

a whimper of fear

As tears poured down her cheeks

Begging for forgiveness,

for mercy

but there was none

to be granted

She had wasted all those years

rejected the right path,

slept through life

forgotten her Creator

Now having opened her eyes

she realized her doings,

regretted her ways

as her heart pleaded

for forgiveness

she had been fooled

by the ways of life

and caught in the web

that the world spun

as her knees gave way,

she collapsed in the dust

her face turned towards the sky

the tears wet on her cheeks

Lying there

to be forever forgotten

forever rejected
