Be A Gentleman Poem by Lourdes Alexander

Be A Gentleman

She is like your sister
She is like your daughter
She is like your mother
She is wo-man, a part of man

Boy, she carried you in her womb
She fed you milk of her own breasts
She cuddled you in her arms
She almost died during childbirth

You ask her, her worth
You judge her by the clothes she wears
You call her names
Molest, rape, abuse and hit her

You ask her to abort if it’s a girl
what would you do?
If she decides to abort if it’s a boy
don’t forget you need her
At every stage of your life

Respect her
Treat her with dignity
For she is made out of your ribs
As God believed she too is equal
Who are you to condemn she is useless

Behave like a man
Not like an animal
Walk with her
Lifting her spirits
As she believes she is your responsibility
